Our most recent Business Retention & Expansion (B.R.E.) facility tour brought together members of our Economic Development team, industry partners, and local business leaders for an insightful visit to the Ashley Furniture Industries facility.
Economic Development Manager Alberto Rivera opened the meeting by welcoming attendees and introducing the B.R.E. team and guest. He was followed by a presentation from Economic Development Director Kim Buttram, who shared updates on Mesquite’s growth and development efforts.
We also heard from our Airport Director Eric Pratt, and FBO General Manager Shawn Beaver who gave a brief presentation highlighting the capabilities and strategic value of the Mesquite Airport. Their remarks underscored the airports potential to support future economic development and host future B.R.E. events.
Ashley’s leadership team delivered a compelling presentation on their operations and commitment to workforce development. Cory Johnson, Manufacturing Director, shared his inspiring personal journey starting at Ashley in 2008 as an 18-year-old assembler and rising through the ranks to a leadership role. As the world’s largest furniture manufacturer and the #1 seller in North America, Ashley’s mission is “Improving people’s lives by transforming the home.” Their dedication to employee growth and customer satisfaction is a true reflection of their values and impact.
This tour was a great example of how our BRE program continues to foster meaningful connections with local industry and highlight the remarkable momentum happening in Mesquite.
