Robust secondary and post-secondary career-oriented programs throughout the Mesquite area and nearby DFW help to ensure that an educated, skilled workforce is available to employers who wish to successfully expand their business, elevate the talent level of their team or start up new enterprises.  In fact, Mesquite has taken the lead in the region to prepare a continuing workforce pipeline of career-ready students by investing in a new Career Technology High School of choice which opened in 2021.

Mesquite Independent School District

It is the mission of Mesquite ISD to educate students and empower them to expand their opportunities, thereby enriching the entire community. The District currently serves 38,500 students on 50 campuses, stretching across 60 square miles. 

Career preparation takes place at every high school campus throughout Mesquite ISD with 80 programs and 25 certification opportunities. In the 2018-19 school year, students earned more than 1,400 dual-credit hours and 1,420 certifications and licenses.  

Trade School

The Texas Advancement Center, headquartered in Mesquite, offers courses in the medical, IT, electrical, HVAC and more fields. There are seven trade schools that match the 75149 zip code as well as Texas State Technical College in Red Oak 33 minutes from Mesquite. This 100,000-square foot campus houses many of TSTC's high-tech, advanced workforce programs with state-of-the-art labs. Top industries and programs include engineering and manufacturing, construction and maintenance, transportation, and computer and information technology. 

Advanced Education

Dallas College - Eastfield Campus has an enrollment of more than 14,000 students and offers degrees and career-focused certifications. It's also a transfer pathway feeding next-step institutions, including University of North Texas at Dallas, Texas A&M Commerce, and Texas Women’s University.  Dallas College's total enrollment across all campuses is 125,000. With our access to the entire DFW network of colleges and trade schools, there are hundreds of higher education opportunities in and around Mesquite.
